Mission Convergence or Samajik Suvidha Sangam is a new initiative of Government of Delhi to empower the citizens, especially the poor and vulnerable to avail benefits of welfare schemes implemented by the Government. The Mission looks to bring together welfare schemes of nine departments (Education, Food and Civil Supplies, Health and Family Welfare, Information Technology, Labor, Social Welfare, SC, ST, OBC and Minority Welfare, Women and Child Development and Urban Development) on a common platform, rationalize the various schemes, simplify administrative procedures, create a single point for enrollment to all schemes and strengthen implementation by use of information technology and efficient delivery of services.

The Mission works on the demand side by creating awareness among citizens about their entitlements and empowering them to avail their rightful entitlements. This is being achieved by partnering with NGOs to set up Suvidha Kendras (GRC) across Delhi, especially in areas inhabited by poor sections. The Suvidha Kendras work in close coordination with the District Resource Centres (DRC) that has been established in each district and function from the Deputy Commissioners Office. Since the DC’s office has been made the central point for all social welfare schemes, DRCs work closely with the DC’s office for implementing activities of Mission Convergence.

PRERANA has two DRCs-in the New Delhi and Central Delhi district. The New Delhi DRC began functioning from February 2009 and the Central Delhi DRC from December 2008.
